wanting to put some beefier forks on for a trip to Morzine (philistine I know!) and have seen a fair few xfusion vengeance 170mm forks about which are apparently decently damped and more importantly peanuts to buy. The axle to crown height is 565 which makes them 20mm higher than the 36s I had on it at one point and a fair bit higher than the revs I have at the moment. I'll be running 180mm rotors if it makes any difference. Just wanted to know if 565mm is really pushing it or whether it'll be fine.
I'm no geometry expert but that sounds just too much increase over the 36's. Did the 36's feel ok - if they did then i'd take those as a maximum, if you feel you need more travel for the area (and it's easy to be lulled into that thinking out there with every man and his dog running triples) then i'd rent a bigger bike there.
