Recently serviced my bastardised z1/dirtjumper Marzocchis. Now they top and bottom out harshly. Is this a sign that there is not enough oil in the damping leg? If not what is the problem?

I've used heavier 10wt oil this time and I've used the oil levels suggested by windwave. I would have expected them to be harder to bottom out with heavier oil.

I dunno but

Yeh, sounds like the fluid hasn't got into the damping circuit

you sure you put in the right amount? Was this with cartridge in or out of the leg?

Cartridge was in and definitely put in the stated amount. I don't trust the thing on windwave website though. It suggests you should have the same amount of oil in each leg but when I took them apart it definitely wasn't the same i.e. more in the damping leg. I'm guessing I'll just incrementally add oil and see what happens.

Heavier oil just makes them slower, they'll still bottom out if you dont have enough oil in.

Did you pump the cartridge to get the oil into it
Just a thought ๐Ÿ˜•

The fork has got 2004 Z1 internals. The damping is circuit is from a time before forks got so complex. If you pour oil in, I don't think it can't not go into the damper.

Yes but if you don't cycle the damper before measuring oil height the oil height drops as the damper fills on the first couple of strokes ๐Ÿ˜‰
