[#1337530]

Looking at getting some Wotans for my Curtis Freeride as the bar mounted travel adjuster will come in handy on the ups

Anybody got any experience of use of these?

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Ken

I looked into them, but they seem to have a problem with the rebound or something... As i was gong to buy second hand i didnt want to take any risks....

2010 ones are much better - all the reviews are saying they're really good and have resolved previous problems with dive/over-linear travel

and at £400 from on-one they have to be worth a go.

(note: I have no personal experience with these forks).

Had a pair of 2008's, and they were great, very stiff and great action.
Keep the remote cable well lubed though, as it does get a bit graunchy real quick ( so much so that I removed mine).

Nothing that costs £400 is 'worth a go'! You shouldn't be gambling that kind of money on a fork! Find out if it's worth it first.

£400 ones from On One are Thors not Wotans

I've got some, had them for a couple of years, very good forks - they are quite linear but i've never found this a problem, certainly I don't get bottom out problems even on big hits.

Major pluses are that they're super plush (i normally have coil forks, and they feel as good as some well set up Z1s) and very very stiff. Negatives would be that they're quite heavy for an air fork. Don't bother with the handle bar damping control, i never used it on mine, so I got it changed (for free!) by maguara UK when they went in for a service.

You do need to service them tho at least once a year, but then that's true of any fork (except my old Zochhis!). Service cost is 80 quid from memory including courier carriage, turn around is normally a couple of days.

Incidentally Magura UKs service is fantastic - mine got a stanchion chipped during transit (they were well packaged but something pointy stabbed through two layers of cardboard) and they replaced the entire upper assembly free of charge - no messing around or me having to argue, they just did it (it was just before I was going on holiday - it was a small chip and cosmetic more than anything, but as there wasn't time to send them back before I went, they just arranged to get them when I got back and fit the new part then - only photo evidence and a phone call required).

Forgot to say, my forks had the rebound problem (top out clunk really), cartridge was swapped for free when I sent them back. I believe the new forks (07 onwards) have this fitted already.

superb forks. very stiff lovely & plush.
tend to dive a little as i like to run them soft but i run the as low & flip that on when needed .

had em 2 years 7 serviced 6 months ago & the boys in ashby upgraded the as & flight control for free....blinding service & it cured my top out clunk.

older metal levers are lovely but get easily caked up & stop working...newer plastic levers are fragile but work with no maintanance..

much more reliable tha fox equivalant 2 step .
