Anyone been on the routes near Machynlleth in the last few weeks?
What condition are they in? Is it a mudfest or fast 'n' dry?

Also this says that the route markers have been removed temporarily cos they are re-routing Mach 1,2 & 3. Does anyone know if they're open now?
thanks

I rode ClimachX 10 days ago and it was pretty dry going round but in the dark woody bits on the final descent there were some pretty deep puddles. I don't think it's rained since so should be drying now but I suspect there are bits that never dry.

That link to the Mach trials - I noticed the link to the new routes on bikehike seem to suggest Mach 1 (and the others?) should be ridden in the opposite direction to how it was waymarked before - is that right?

I don't know, hence the question!

The link to the Mach 1 route on bikehike from the dyfimountainbiking site would seem to be in the opposite direction to old. As mentioned above I'm sure the Holey Trail lot would know.

Update:
the Mach trails are now t'other way round and slightly changed too.
All way-markers have been removed from the routes due to maintenance costs and people taking them as souvenirs
You can buy the trail maps from the Holey Trail shop. £3 each or all 3 for £7 - printed on A4 waterproof, tearproof paper.
The GPS routes on bikehike are correct.

Having ridden the Mach3 the best bit for me was the chute. I can't see many people being able to climb it and to be honest there wouldn't be any other descents worth doing the other way round. Oh please say that it isn't so that you have to go up the chute for a fireroad descent???

devs:
Just looked at old & new maps again.
The chute is still a downhill on Mach3
Mach 1 is deffo clockwise now, Mach2 & 3 are still clockwise but slightly different routes.
Bloke in Holey Trail said Mach4 will be longer and go out to Nant-y-Moch Res

sorry for confusion

Cool. I'm not doing my annual trip to Wales this year but will check out the new routes next year.
