Need to pick up a couple of sets. Have bought from superstar in the past, but these are the first set of brakes I've had with finned pads. What do people recommend as replacement parts, do the fins make a big difference?

Will be taking spares for the Alps so need to take long descents into consideration.

Normal pads will be fine.

We didn't die all those years before without finned pads....

Maybe not, but the sintered finned pads work better and last way longer than the alternatives.

I found the finned pads never properly allowed the pads to heat up so they continually felt wooden

Maybe my slow riding style, but I'm not convinced by em

I've tried few different types - inc disco sintered and keeler, Shimano resin - but have gone back to Shimano finned sintered. Love the solid feel and how long they last. Plus I think they look cooler.

Wouldn't bother with finned pads unless they're Shimano.

Superstar and Uber use a separate heatsink, which, as anyone who knows about computers, is useless without thermal compound to transfer the heat, there's a good chance they're just a gimmick imo.
