Right....carried out the floodgate mod....and I noticed my damper looks like the Mission Control DH damper.
Here's the normal damper with the floodgate removed.
Mine has three large oval ports instead, like the MC DH. Now I know that if you upgrade to the DH damper you also require the dual flow rebound assembly upgrade, as the standard rebound assembly doesnt push enough oil through or something and so you lose your compression adjustments and the fork becomes super plush and wallowy.
Well my new modded fork is super plush and now the compression adjustments contrary to what pinkbike said, seem to have a lot less range. So have I in effect now got the Mission Control DH damper as it's different to the one in the picture?
makes no sense
what doesnt? I guess what I meant was....is that has the normal Mission Control damper with the floodgate been revised for the 2010+ models? Because the damper I have is physically closer to the DH damper instead of the one pictured in the link.
If it has been revised does this affect the floodgate mod causing an adverse outcome?
I ask this because I think I may have effectively turned my damper into the DH damper considering that it seems different to previous revisions. If you swap out the Mission Control damper with the floodgate for the Mission Control DH damper you also have to swap the rebound assembly for the one that goes with the DH assembly.
Still makes no sense ๐ฏ
damn it! so do any of you guys actually know what the floodgate mod is?
Well I don't.
To be fair my Lyriks don't need any mods either, they're fine as they are.....
http://www.pinkbike.com/video/146846/ linky to the floodgate mod. People have been removing the floodgate to improve small bump sensitivity, sram even encouraged them as can be seen over at pinkbike.
2010+ (DH and non DH) had the dual flow rebound anyway I thought? I have the MOCO DH cartridge on order from Fishers for my standard 2010 lyriks as heard various horror stories about this mod?

"Revised Rebound System
Perhaps just as important as the new damper, is the revised Dual Flow Rebound system in the Lyrik. This updated Dual Flow rebound circuit seems to take cues from the 2010 BoXXer. The new Dual Flow rebound offers additional control over previous Lyrik rebound circuits and helps the Mission Control damper work better than before.
dual flow rebound
Both of the Mission Control forks (DH and Standard) have these updated rebound circuits that feature a larger displacement shaft and the removal of an internal tube, so a larger rebound piston can be utilized. The Dual Flow rebound incorporates independent damping circuits allowing separate rebound speeds for big hits and small ones
