Thinking about taking the plunge on a new bike light. As £300+ quid is a fair amount of cash, I was wondering if anyone had some longevity or warranty experience with Lupine.
Heard great things about Exposure but I want to go down the helmet light route and lupine seem to offer the best package.
I have an Eddison 5 from Lupine. Though I have had a few problems with the light (bearing in mind it's the older and more temperamental HID bulb), Lupine were always good on the warranty service. A bit like Hope in the UK. I am based in Germany though so not sure what their warranty service is like back home.
Eddison 5 from Lupine lasted me 5 years commuting, 2 weekly night rides and weekend trips during some wet, grim and very dark Scottish winters. Got the cheap £50 ones on now from Hong Kong which have been impressive....I would buy Lupine again if I was feeling flush! 🙂
I would give Light & Motion a look before you part with your money. Lupine have always been overpriced as far as I'm concerned.
If you're looking for a helmet light, you might wish to consider one of these:

There is one currently out on independant test with the Media, has been for a few months now, initial feedback is positive.
I started using a Lupine Piko for the last Winter following a favourable review in singletrack - fabulous light with a brilliant beam.
I use that with a Wilma (bought 2nd hand from Ebay) on the bars.
I've had no problems with either but have a look at the reviews on bike radar - I think they allude to some issues?
Lupine are on the whole very reliable and I believe you are paying for that extra Germanic quality. They are not perfect, my Wilmas had a bad connector after 3 years and Snakebite has smashed his to bits so they do break with 17stone plus momentum forcing them into solid rock. We have had lots of lights between us, Lupines do seem give the least grief.
Phone Craig at Swinnertons, he can sometimes do favourable prices.

I've had a Passubio XL HID for 3.5 years. It's done 3 years of night rides in Scottish winters. Still on the original bulb, battery does not seem to have lost any run time and survived multiple pile-ups. It's been completely fit and forget which is what I like
Had my Lupine Tesla 5 for two years and no problems, build quality is very good, not the cheapest on the market but when I was buying the Tesla and Wilma were scoring very highly in the mtb mag reviews. Of course there's a lot more choice now, especially UK brands. I got a good deal at Swinnertons.
Thanks for the input, given me a few things to research.
Er excuse me, but haven't you forgotten someone...of fish-like proportions?
I did indeed smash mine to bits, but it was 14stone of athletic muscle smashing them into the rocks.... Lupine were very good about it as were Swinnertons and I had a new set back in 10 days and the loan of a shop set while they were away so no nightrides missed! Having used other lights, Lumi's, ARC Ultra's, Rush etc, the Lupines have been superb and I would have no quibbles on another set. The SOS flash is also good when we go camping, get pi55ed and the girls fancy a dance....bit like a trance disco cept you dare not look at the light...
