One of my XT levers has become a little sticky where it sort of rolls over the piston actuator thingy...

What can you spray in there without fear of harming your seals etc?

An XT lever yesterday.

Maybe a bit of silicone spray lube.

Finish Line stanchion lube. Doesn't react with seals on mineral or dot systems. Great for lubing pistons as well. Add some to your next order of bits from Germany as they don't seem to bring it into the UK.

Mineral oil will do it but may make things a bit "messy" around the lever.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but some silicone spray will keep it going for a bit longer but it's only a matter of time before you pull the brake and the lever doesn't return. I've had 3 levers do it. I ended up just buying some brand new SLXs from CRC after a bit so that they'd be easy to warranty when/if they die.

Yeah I actually already had an XT lever replaced after close to a year from new when it did the not returning thing. Been ok since then but I did suspect that it might be lube or lack of lube that caused it to fail.

I'll maybe try some mineral oil cheers.

So you think silicone spray breaks down the seals getonyourbike?

Proper silicone spray (3 in 1) is the recommended lube AFAIK

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that the lever will pack it in no matter what you do to it and the silicone spray will just keep it going for a bit longer.
