hi
looking for a low stack headset,
have a set of forks 159mm steerer
that if I can I'd like to put on an inbred frame, 105mm headtube
leaving 54mm + 3mm for top cap, so 57mm for stem and headset,
can this be done,
p.s. dont wanna spend mega amounts either, think my current stem stack height is 35mm so I would therefore need a headset of 22mm
sorry hope this make sense
cheers
Crank brothers......... not cheapy though at £50 odd quid but you'll not get any lower

hhhmmmnnn £42.50 not exactly the cheapest option,
but if it means i can use the forks then be it 🙂
nothing else out there that anyone knows of?
anyone got a crank brothers headset for sale? 😀
If I was you I'd talk to a bike shop about getting some enthusiastic facing of the headtube done. Not sure if this is viable but could they remove any material without weakening eveything, is the headtube butted?
Other options are to look at new stems? To give you more length to play with.

In some cases, if there is enough metal about, i don't see why this would'nt work...take material off the top as much as can be done so as not to upset the angles and take it from there, if the frame allows, should be no probs...considering it myself on an old kona frame.

I'd buy new...they come with a 5 year warranty so £42 over 5 years+ isn't too bad. Keep the receipt in a safe place though as you'll probably need it...I'm using a CB headset for it low stack height and it's not feeling too great after only a few rides and shows signs of rust on the outer surfaces. At least 2Pure (CB importer) are easy to deal with...they replaced my CB bottom bracket quickly when it died after a few months.
