I'm planning to cycle from Lewisham back home over 3 or 4 days, I work it out to be just over 200 miles. I reckon I'll travel light and go the travel-lodge b&b route.
I really don't want to take the A5, I've heard its lorry-city - has anyone done this route, or something similar before? Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What about canals? Surely the canals can be utilised for a fair chunk of the journey?
