Thinking of doing the classic Ladybower route in the Peak, is Lockerbrook pointless since they did all that work on it a few years back?
I tend to use it as a climb these days to enjoy the hagg farm descent on the other side.
Its not what it was, but its not pointless. Its also slowly getting more interesting as, predictably, it all gets torn up and eroded.Â
Watch out for the Gate!
Thanks, might check it out anyway as I'm still getting my mojo back after a long time off the bike! Â
It's been denuded of trees so has lost some feel. It's fine, and there aren't any better alternatives if you want to do a clockwise Ladybower loop.
Personally, I wouldn't bother until it's seen some significant wear/erosion (maybe not in my lifetime!) It was a totally motorwayed maybe 3 years back.I've not been back since.
I'm sure we did it a few months back, I don't recall it being that different to when I last rode it ~20years ago. Was it more interesting in the intervening period? Just a long fast forestry road that get's progressively (slightly) rougher until you hit the gate.Â
