[#11454536]

Just been leaked to the press. DM, Times etc.

Knew I should have bought the s/hand turbo for my lad when I saw it. Doh!

(I know,I know, it's not a true lock down, just like the first one wasn't but even so....)

My Stanton frame lead time is getting longer and longer! Thankfully already got a turbo though!

Question is whether I will break my lifting pbs with the plates I’ve got or not - if the lockdown is 2 weeks, no. If it’s 2 months, then maybe! Hummmm....

Treadmill arrived last week. Was a 4 week lead time ordering in September. Extra fan also arrived (one of those air mover things).

Strange that Raab was on the radio yesterday saying that the govt won’t do Lockdown II despite scientific evidence as they do t want to be accused of doing a u turn!

For all the moaning you did last time round you do realise threads like this are part of the problem ?

These sorts of threads encouraging panic buying are going on not just on bike forums but basically any enthusiasts hobby site....

Hell you even had the cheek to point someone else who started a thread at the main covid thread. Then started this ?

I think it's fair enough to post a new thread. It's new developments.

It's not like we have one bike thread and one whatnewcar thread etc.

Given that Covid is the main thing in all our lives at present, it's not surprising people are opening threads to talk about it.

I'm thinking a haircut and stock up on bog roll/baked beans.

Sod indoor training, I will now be able to cycle again without as many drivers trying to kill me. The dream that after the last lockdown cyclists would be treated better and there would be less cars on the road quickly disappeared and it was worse than ever in August and September.

Ordered a smart trainer a fortnight ago, lead time of 2-3 weeks so should be due any time soon.

Might stock up on Lego and Tamiya too, could be a long one.

Can't wait for another serious lockdown to stop people driving. May was the pinnacle of road cycling with no traffic!

Purely coincidentally had put together some short local CX loops which should keep me entertained in between Couch-to-5k runs and turbo sessions.

Will stock up on a spare set of CX tyres and maybe (finally) a proper fan for turbo...

I did more biking during lockdown than I've ever done, nothing to wild, just getting out in the nice weather, but I hardly ride in the winter anyway. I'm still cutting my own hair just to be on the safe side, no doubt morons will take all the bog roll again.
I know a guy who works on the bins and the amount of food that got wasted last time by selfish arseholes clearing the shelves was beyond ridiculous.

Never knew I have such untapped power to decide the buying intentions of a whole population! Nay, the world!

In all honestly, I think buying a turbo is a slightly bigger investment than picking up a pack of 16 bog roll... and is more likely to have some reasoned thought behind it.

Seriously, trail-rat, more important things to get irate at than little old me surely? On top of that biking/ turbos played a big part for many people in keeping their sanity and health during lock down V1.0.

Stay safe all.👍

I was too bloody busy at work and looking after child during the last lockdown to get much riding in.

Suspect it will be same this time.

This! We were able to ride up the wrong side of the A19 near our house for nearly a mile a few times it was that quiet.

I will never ever use a turbo, if I got an hour to ride a turbo I got an hour to ride a real bike. Lockdown rules are unclear but it doesn't seem to say you can't travel to exercise just gotta do it on your own or 1 other person. Its only a month so I will likely be back out on the gravel bike.

Same for me. I would rather go out and ride in the rain/cold than sit indoors 'riding' but then I only ride for fun and enjoyment of actually riding a bike and there is no training element in it for me.

I've just bought one of these
https://www.freewheel.co.uk/elite-tuo-fe-c-mag-trainer-tt92001

New baby at home means that leaving the house for 2+ hours is no longer an alternative, especially one with Colic.

Also if you are ST Subscriber you can get a 20% discount

I've gone the trainer route for the simple reason that my fitness, or more accurately my climbing fitness, dropped off a cliff last lockdown as the hills I could ride were no substitute for the big days out I like doing normally. A proper trainer means I can do some structured training and put myself in the best place possible regardless of local terrain, the weather or other restrictions. I could spend the money on a road bike and the kit I'd need for winter but if I'm going out and will get wet I'll head for the local woods and avoid the traffic. I planned to do the SDW again this year but my lack of climbing fitness scuppered that so I'm targeting next year instead. The plan is 1 day on the trainer, 1 day out in the woods then a rest day. Repeat throughout the winter. The cost of a smart trainer and a training programme is roughly 50% of what I would have to spend on a road bike and all the kit I don't have so actually makes sense for me. Add in the trainer will hold it's value pretty well compared to a bike that's been hammered through winter and it is in reality the cheaper option!

dont give your self too much credit i was far from irate when i posted that . more curious to your thought process.

i just thought it highly odd you were giving out to someone who posted the other (now locked) "lock down is coming thread" pointing them at the main thread- then post pretty much the same thread - but with a warning to get your panic buying done attached (items not withstanding its another covid thread)
