I need some decent trail illumination and pretty cheap too, definitely under £100 all in. My main problem is mounting something to this lid, though.

[img] [/img]

There's a pic to show venting layout. Could that tab to hold the visor be used? Has anyone actually got oae and successfully got something to work with it?

I'm a bit flummoxed by light choose. The 1200 lumen lumen one from DX looks good but I'm worried about the weird beam pattern. If I could get one of those to fit on my helmet, would that be a good choice? What should I get for a bar mounted one?

Any help is mcuh appreciated.
Pete

The exposure joystick light has a helmet mount that would fit that helmet, but it's a bit over your budget.
However, if a light doesn't fit your helmet, it doesn't really matter how cheap it is, so you may have to set your sights a bit higher

I asked the same question before buying the helmet and the exposure mount was the only reply. 🙁

The 1200 lumen lumen one from DX looks good but I'm worried about the weird beam pattern

The XM-L's are not weird, just a big hot spot that overawes the surrounding floody bit it produces, absolutely fine really, but in open area's you have a tight spot that doesn't illuminate big areas well - which is fine if you look where the spot is....
The other option is the Magichsine MJ-872 which I saw for the first time tonight, lots & lots of floody light with a good reach, not as good a reach as the XM-l which is brighter for a longer distance.

The ultimate in cheap and cheerful lighting would be the 4x XPG on the bars and an XM-L on your helmet IMHO

Both very good lights and highly recommended, as to how to fit them to that helmet, I haven't a clue...

Well maybe you could feed one of these through the front vents?

though how the strap would sit inside the helmet I can't answer

Has anybody put a P7 in one of the Exposure mounts?

Suction cup car mount for a bullet cam from Dogcam at about £6 plus any led light of your choosing. I use a fenix tk11 £55 or a 900 lumen dealextreme at about £25 + batteries. Sorted

I've had a look at those Dogcam mounts and the only problem is that they're only suitable for lights with a diameter of 21-23mm and most of the DX torches are more than that. Which DX torch did you get, there's loads of different ones on there?

Well, I've ordered a 1600 lumen xml light for £30 on ebay for the bars, a 1200 lumen xml torch from DX with lots of batteries and a charger and one of the suction mounts from dog cams above^^^. The monut from dog cams has arrived and seem really good. The torch should fit by the looks of things and the mount is really solid. I'm looking forward to this. 😀
