There is much hearsay and web gossip regarding the dangers of these. Yet I can find no reliably reported incidents.

So herewith, my very unscientific survey:

If you use lights with lithium based battery technology, have you ever had a problem with battery combustion?

Please only post responses that contain either

* ONLY the word "No"
* The word "Yes" and a summary of the incident and confirmation of whether you were using protected or unprotected cells.

I will start another thread of similar title for any chat this inspires...

Thanks. If this works, it could be useful to us all.

what about
"how long have you used them for" ?
"What make of cells/charger" ? (I've no idea if mine are protected, though suspect they are)

No - about 2yrs, maybe 100 charge cycles. Smudge cells & charger.

YES.
I had one explode, made a hole in my plaster.

Still have the bits if you want to see them.

No

Used a variety of cheap and expensive Li-Ions over the years and can't say I've treated them that well on the whole (leaving stuff constantly plugged in charging between uses etc.), never had any issues though.
