Looking at hiring a couple of enduro/downhill bikes while we're there in July, only for half a day probably as my mate has MS so gets tired (also old duffers!). Any recommendations? and do you have to get the lift pass individually or does anyone bundle it up with bike hire? Cheers

I can't see that you'd make a saving if it was bundled and not sure if anyone does it but I've not looked. What you can do is get a book of single tickets. Its basically one card with a set number of goes on the lift. You can use one between two of you and just pass it back when you go through (not dodgy as it'll deduct two tickets). This only works in Les Gets, If you want to explore into Morzine and beyond then you'll need the day pass. You just need to do some maths as to whether it is cheaper than a day pass. I think they do a half day pass too, but just the afternoon IIRC. Might work out if your mate only wants a few runs.

EDIT Just had a quick look on the website. Its 31E for a day, 25E for 5 hours, 22E for 6 singles and 35E for 12 singles. Depends how many runs you think you'll do. Its also slightly more expensive to buy it from the ticket office so get it online.

The Woods bike shop in Morzine had a nice fleet of Devinci last time I was there. Seemed like really good guys, gave us decent trail advice and helped me with a mechanical even though I wasn’t renting with them. You can get the lift and do Morzine or Les Gets from right next door. Would be my choice if in the area again.

Seemed a little more basic in Les Gets but if you don’t mind what you ride from recollection there was an Intersport right by the lifts, with another bike shop opposite. Bikes didn’t seem as fancy / fresh but if you just want to roll down and have fun for half a day I’m sure they will do the job.

A friend of mine hired a bike from Intersport in Les Gets- the back wheel was coming to the end of its (hard) life and spokes were breaking daily. The shop gave him a better bike for no extra charge. Evasion Sports at the other end of town looked like it had a bigger selection, though.

On a related note does anyone know how it works buying lift passes online? How/where do you collect them?

I think you pick them up from the click and collect booths
