[#10621204]

Just stripped down a 27.5 Stumpjumper and the group set has done one weeks riding. It's a mixture of XX1 and X01 Eagle. Going to put it on a 29 Stumpjumper. The chain is a black XX1 and I think it will be a few links short.
I have some spare X01 Eagle chain and was wondering if apart from the colour I can just add a few links with another Powerlock or will it all end in tears

Thanks, coming from the North I'd hate to have to waste it.

I've done very similar. My ocd hates the idea but it works fine.😁

yeah, adding a second powerlink won't make it any weaker than having one on there. Just messes with my OCD too but my 26" has had one of it's chains with a double power link for years after snapping a chain.

Just fitted Eagle GX to my Aeris and first ride with it felt like I should have gone for a 34T chainring as 32-50 is far too spinny for me as I like to grind up hills. Should have gone 34T first and then gone shorter! Might try the 34T anyway as the chain was 1/2 a link too long when sizing to get the first size that would link together.

It should be fine.

I'm still waiting for my "spare links" chain to reach full chain length for a test. I've been building it from quick links from old chains plus unused bits of new chains. One day....
