Hi,
Had a quiet day at work last week so decided to take the camera up to Lee Quarry and create an interactive tour. Its a good way of showing the location and terrain of the centre.

For the those of you that havent been its well worth a visit. Its very technical in places but great for practicing your skills. I would try and combine it with a longer route.
Hope you enjoy.

Good one!
Nice one! How do those 3d tour things actually work? How many pics do you need to take etc?
Must get up to Lee Quarry soon, looks great fun.
Very cool ๐
That's lovely, well done. Needs a headcam run now. There's a great disused old quarry near Frome in Somerset where Chris Smith has build a tonne of knarly shore for his own purposes. There's a bit of a downhill track but the place is ripe for a similar sort of development i.e. a techy XC course that used the quarry galleries. The great thing about it is that the surface is really hardened so not affected by wet conditions
Very nice! I can't wait to move home for summer so I'll be near enough to check the place out.
V impressed with Lee Quarry in concept - Lancashire council seems to be recognising the validity of adrenaline sports to help urban re-generation. If they see through their plans it'll be brilliant, plus there is loads of great riding round there anyway as said above.
Did anyone ever see some of the original proposals for Lee Quarry?
There were talking about moving the Ski slope there and having a branch of Ellis Brigham. It was also going to be used as an outdoor venue for music and theatre with restaurants and a bar.
The way I read the original Rossendale Leisure Trust web pages, it sounded like they had major plans for the whole of the quarry area.
Anybody know if this is still the case or has it been shelved due to the credit crunch. I'd be interested to know if anyone is close to the council and can confirm any other plans they may have.
impressive, nice one
From what I have heard, they are trying to get project together that will create an outdoor activity destination for the area. It's still in the early stages but would be good for the region if it happened.
Very clever..
Nice sunny day aswell.

Hi Grum,
They are created by taking 6 photos and stitching them together. I can also add hotspots for information and links to images/videos etc. Next time Im up there will get some video footage and see how it looks.
Lee that works really well, I would be interested in seeing if we could get some hotspots with some video of people riding the trails.
I have plans to develop the trails further (put together for us by Rowan Sorrell), specifically more skills development areas in Lee Quarry, with a range of drop offs from small to large, jumps from small to large more balance stuff, pump track etc
Also a link out accross the moors to Rooley Moor road and then some singletrack in Cragg Quarry (big berms and rollercoaster style features). Link over to Facit Quarry (down through the woods)and up through Landgate to Brown Wardle Hill. I have a couple of funding bids in at the moment if sucessful we should be building some more stuff this year.
We need to demonstrate support for the site/concept stuff like the Brownbacks race series and Singletrack event are good for this. Sign up for the Singletrack Event and help us develop the site further!
Hi Tony,
I can take a few videos of the mates doing the key sections. It would be good to film some trial riders on the skills areas. Do you know when the next trials event is on?
I have been chatting to Rob about getting funding to develop the interactive maps further but I'm told thats a fair way off. Like you I'm keen for the local area to develop and think there is a lot of potential.
Im glad to hear you want to develop a range of jumps. I visit Gisburn forest quite regulary and get fed up with the huge jumps that I can't personally attempt and no smaller ones to practice on to give me the capability.

Tony, is there some sort of group/forum for riders who want to get more involved with stuff going on here?
I'd potentially want to get involved with any work etc at the venue. Not been yet (might go this weekend or next) but it looks superb and sound like just my cup of tea!
It really is a great little place. Tony the plans sound outstanding. Keep us informed of any developments or help we could contribute to.
Davey Boy - you'd love it mate, it feels less sanitised than other trail centres. We failed to include it on last week's night ride round there due to latish start. ๐ But will be doing it again soon I'm sure. At the mo it's good built into a bigger ride, but the plans to link it with other quarries look fab on paper.
Should set something up for people to get involved defo, or if it's there already, point us in the right direction. I think you'd get a lot of support, and it'd be great to show the council how much grass roots support there is for this stuff given the opportunity, on top of the races etc?
that looks great! cant wait to get up there now for my day with Ed O! the future plans sound fantastic too! should be a great spot to ride
Quick update
I managed to get to the quarry last night and shoot a few sample videos. There were quite a few up but I couldnt get any volunteers to perform on camera (Steve and Richard!)I have added one to the interactive tour, but the problem is that the screen just stays blank until video has fully downloaded.
Does anyone know how to add a loading bar or movie controls to a .swf file? Unfortunately the software will only accept swf files.
Thanks Lee
Lee There will be quite a few of us up in the quarry next tuesday (including the singletrack guys)evening from about 5 through to 9pm sorting things out for the weekender. Should be lots of willing volunteers for some video.
