Anyone ridden or owned both? Any thoughts / comments etc?
Have ridden a 575 a lot, quick blast on a Zesty, but haven't been able to get out on a propoer ride on a Zesty
thanks
I had a 575 for a time but couldn't get on with it - they size up very big and that may have been my problem - was great on the flats and uphill, nice and light but the downs were a diffrent story, found it blew through the travel very easily and didn't p[rop me up in tight technical stuff - in short I just didnt feel that confient on it. But lots of people do love them........I just love my 5 spot a lot more!
I'd say Zesty over the 575. Every Yeti I've ridden took getting used to whereas (Admittably) only two Lapierres felt at home.
I have a 575 and felt that the Zesty I tried (round a car park) felt absolutely spot on... to the point that I keep thinking about buying one... even if I keep getting distracted by the Spicy 😉
Both are good rides, I personally have never had a problem with heading down hill on the Yeti, it was very nearly as competent in the gravity stakes as my old Patriot.
Trying to sort out a few test rides (proper) over the next few months to decide what direction to go myself. I can't justify the cost of another flash bike so it is off the peg for me now! The Yeti will never compete with the Lapierre for value IMO
I had a 575 a couple of years back, great long travel all day bike, a bit tall for really ragging though. Worked better with a 160mm fork IMO. Never ridden a zesty but own a spicy, and apparently they are a very similar (if a bit heavier) ride, with many people preferring the zesty as an aggressive all rounder. I think the spicy is mint, not a chore on climbs and a real hoot everywhere else.
Had the old 575 and echo Yoshimi's comments.
Got a Zesty now and it's a far more fun and rewarding ride.
If you want an alternative have a look at the Chumba VF2, much like the zesty, but nicer finished 🙂 A few bargains to be had at the moment too...
Zesty !
Have a 575 and the gf has a Zesty 514. 575 is a bit better for climbing and speed, but Zesty is much better on the downs.
For better read:
Faster, plusher, more stable, more fun, and much more at home when you are banked over on bends, feels like you could get your knee down 🙂 575 feels much more upright.
Love the 575 but if it were nicked tomorrow, I think I'd replace it with a Zesty. Even though my gf would constantly remind me she was the trendsetter as her Zesty was bought the first year they were sold in the UK. When they were about £1000 cheaper...
Had a 2010 514 Zesty for a while and my wife owns a 575. I'd choose the 575 as it climbs better and on flat singletrack it just pedals so damn well. She has used to good effect in the Alps too. The new improved 575 looks even better too.
My 514 however wallowed in the mid-stroke of the shock, blow through the travel (despite constant adjustments) and...well...let's just say i made good use of the warranty!!!!
The OST platform works very similar to the VPP platform. If you were running an RP23 and are on the heavier side > 13st I guess, I'm not surprised the travel was used up. My old Tracer did the same until I swapped out the RP23 for a coil.
I'd still get a Zesty. Love my mates 714.
