I have the YHA in Keswick booked for Friday night and was planning on riding Gisburn on my way up there and then riding the Borrowdale Bash on Saturday. Being as it's only cost me £10 to book the YHA I'm not too worried about not going. Family living in Leeds have just sent a photo of fairly heavy snow with them so I'm wondering what the conditions are like in the Lakes currently? Seeing as I'm riding it solo for the first time, I don't fancy the risks associated if it's too bad.

Also looking for a fork mount solution for the floor of my new van. Needs to be able to mount my hardtail and full suss which are both 15mm as well as my road bike. Only looking for one mount ideally so needs to have adapters. I've seen the Hurciane fork up options but blimey how much £££!! Does anyone know of a cheaper option that would fit all three bikes?

I was thinking of riding the BB tomorrow... bluebird skies here in London but we have a good covering at home in Bury apparently... no mention of snow on the keswick forecasts... i imagine you have more trouble riding gisburn?

Ooooo will check out the webcams when I'm not on the works WiFi!

Yeah fair point actually maybe I should rethink Gisburn and go for Grizedale or alternative instead!

Anyone free tomorrow to show me around the off piste at Grizedale then, I hear there's some really good stuff!

I'm going to ride the Bash this morning, will let you know 😁

Only at Cockermouth to begin with though, so already know there'll be no snow on the route.

Definitely - Gisburn will be fairly minging, Grizedale non-trail centre will be wet, but still good - see the other thread which has a nice Parkamoor route which will keep you occupied.

Yeah I've noticed that a minute ago, will take a look at the route and maybe go for that option instead! Last time I rode Gisburn it was minging, braking lakes!

The Delta Bike Hitch Thru Axle (Tredz have them listed but unsure about stock) looks like it will do the job for your van. It seems to have all the common adaptors although I've not seen one yet.

Yeah it looks a great option and I wish it came with the sizes I need as would be perfect. Alas it seems you need to have boost hubs and above so it doesn't fit 15mm x 100 nor 9mm QR 🙁

Dunno about the lakes i'm too far away 🙂

in the van i've got 2 of these  https://www.seasucker.com/collections/rack-accessories/products/20mm-fork-mount

bit limited as cant be used with anything other than 20mm (or 15mm if you buy that size)

I've also got some Sram 20mm ones than can be adapted to QR and to 15mm with a shim but they not available anymore as far as I know

this seems like a good option as its 15mm and QR compatible (i'll probably get some next)

Darn - looks like they have changed the design I was looking at as there was a '2016' version (BH6000-FT?) that came with the non-boost axle insert but the '2017' version (BH6002-FT) as gone all boosty-pants.

Just got back, Bash conditions are great, a touch damp if you go up Walla, but otherwise 99.9% snow free, and today, blue skies. Shame about saturdays forecast!

These are good -  http://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/accessories-c1/car-racks-c26/boot-c27/minoura-vergo-excel-p667

Should be able to get a bolt through mount as an extra.

Rode grizedale off piste + Parkamoor yesterday, it's absolutely fine, no snow. There's snow visible on the higher peaks. I suspect the BB would be fine, but I don't know for certain.

Well slight change of plans. Replaced the fuel and air filters as a precautionary 'new vehicle' procedure at work yesterday and drove the van to a school, came time to leave and the bugger wouldn't shift. Got it going in the end and we suspect it was an air lock, however, decided it was safer to stay at home and just potter around in it rather than risk the long journey solo in a new vehicle. Will have to reschedule my plans to another weekend.

Also ordered a Saris Traps 9mm QR mount from helfrauds for a mighty £16 and spotted a yakima 15mm x 100 adapter on roofbox for a much more reasonable £35 so going to order that asap.
