Has anyone ridden from the chlamain gap,down to the Cairngorm bridge, just wondering if it is worth the extra hike above the lodge, thanks.
I did it 2 years ago and I would say mostly it was a nice walk. The day I did it have never ridden in such wind, after crossing the river and heading up to the reindeer shed I couldn't stay on the bike, every time I lifted the front wheel at a drainage ditch I got blown of. If the weather was ok it would be a lot better but still a fair sprachal over the boulders in the gap and once I got down the hill to the footpath I found it mostly un rideable for the first wee bit but maybe I'm just shit. However once I got past that the rest was great all the way down to crossroads just up from the iron bridge.
The water bars up near the gap are designed to dissuade bikers.
