A while ago my knee pads that have never previously rubbed, started rubbing the back of my right leg. No real reason, but super annoying & sore.ย

So my wife bought me some new pads for Christmas - Fox Enduro Pro pads that pull up & have a silicone gripper. First couple of rides they were totally fine. Now they have started slipping down my leg on one side & rubbing again. The previous pads (Dianese Trail Skins with velcro top & bottom so in theory they shouldn't slip) didn't slip, they just seemed to start rubbing.ย

Anyone had similar issues? What was your solutions or should I be looking at different pads?

If newish pads are rubbing I'd just sell them and try something else. It won't get any better! If the older ones were trouble free for years if probably get a new pair of them. Endura singletrack lite worked for me for years, now they rub my shin every ride so I've given up on them. Just moved to poc vpd air which are rub free so far...

They just do when they get old, could stick some arse cream on where it rubs, that should stop or reduce it.

Same as above if new ones rub still after a couple of rides then they wont usually stop.ย

my old ixs pads where the best for me, loved them never rubbed until they got very old, so replaced with the same model.....rubbed like hell worse pads ive had. also n

Also now using poc vpd air which dont rub.

Again as per DamageAndy, I have set that rub intermittently, so I just put cream on the area and it sort it out for ages.

If mine rub its usually a sign I've been neglecting hygiene... giving them a proper handwash with mild laundry liquid and a scrubbing brush on the inside works for me.ย

I've not tried it yet but someone on here recommended Body Glide for this. I've never had a kneepad that doesn't rub after one wash (washing really seems to do for them).

Have you tried washing the old pads? ย I found mine became uncomfortable after a while until they were properly washed and dried. Then they were fine again. Most likely a build up of dead skin, sweat, dirt and bacteria

Never had a set that didn't rub.ย ย

I reckon someone needs to make a set of summer weight lycra bib 3/4's with an externally grippy surface to go under the things and the sartorially elegant enduro folks can always put some knee length tangerine and lime baggies colour matched to their bike on top to hide the lycra underthings.ย  😉

I give it maybe half an hour before someone basically points me at a product that does just this?!

+1 on the cream

Mine eventually do this after a few years and then it's time for new ones.

I sewed an old silk tie into the offending area of a race face set. Stitched at the top and not the bottom. That helped a bit. I tried silk sleeping bag liner in some fox ones, that just ripped.

As others have said, I just put a bit of chamois cream under mine. Seems to avoid any issues.ย
