Anybody had a chance to compare the Kenda Nevagal against their BlueGroove tire? I am on BlueGroove's now and like them, but time for new tires and several guys at the LBS are pushing me towards the Nevagal.
I am riding mostly dry, rocky, hard-pack here in the desert Southwest/New Mexico.
I never got on with the Blue Groove, loads of people recommend it on the front but it liked to tramline with me, it'd rather follow a rut than ride out of it, which nevegals don't do so much. Good grip though but allround I prefer the nevegals (which I love)
Have you tried the SMall Block 8? Fantastic tyre for dry stuff...
I haven't tried the Small Block 8, but was thinking of getting a pair as back up and to use when it gets REALLY dry here---in about the next 2 weeks. Going to take a trip to Fruita and ride the Kokopelli trail to Moab, then do the White Rim trail, so about 240 miles of riding ahead and all pretty dry/desert conditions.
It's a great rear tyre, just swapped both my bikes over, even deals sort of passably with the wet. Not such a fan on the front, makes for a very fast and occasionally terrifying ride. A better rider than me could do good things with a pair but the 2.35 on the front just sucks out my confidence.
I wasn't happy with a Blue Groove DTC on the front. A better combo IMO was Nevegal Stick-E on the front & Nevegal DTC on the rear. All 2.35 fitted to an Orange 5. HTH
Go for the stick-e rubber.
Happy enough with a Blue Groove DTC 2.35 on the front myself, I find it more predictable when cornering (especially if leaning) than the High Roller I used to run. Have only run Nevegal's on the rear so far so can't directly compare.
Nevegal has been the only tyre that I've consistently gone back to over the years. Only used on the back though, 2.1 DTC.
I've not tried a nevegal on the front, but thats because I get on pretty well with a bluegroove.
Better grip than a nev IMO. I run a nevegal on the rear, because it rolls nice and fast.
I used the Blue Groove 2.35 DTC on the front for some time and it was really good in all but mud.
SeanOrange - comparing DTC to Stick-E has more of an effect than the two different tread patterns...
