[#592652]

Joplin failed big time today.
clamp assembly had developed a bit of wear, and subsequently failed catastrophically today at Laggan.
i was VERY lucky to escape injury, and as such shall be returning the post to 2Pure for investigation.
i'll let you know the outcome.
2Pure have been good replacing seals, etc, under warranty previously.

Did the bolt break, or one of the clamps?

clamps. accelerated wear on the inner 'collet', simply gave way.
not impressed as a serious accident was narrowly averted - no confidence in the product now.
i do ride hard, and was expecting more, especially considering the cost.
i'm back to my Thomson now !

By collet do you mean the main central parts with the conical taper?

I was thinking of getting one of these (or equivalent) as I just got a new remedy 8, and thought it would be perfect for use on this bike. The quality issues and the play are steering me towards just stopping and dropping it in time honoured fashion.

me and my speedball have been together since they first came out arrived one christmas eve apart from the little release lever sticking and making post drop down has been as good as gold and 1 service, not the first problem i have heard on the crankbrother version though.

seems an odd place to develop wear. Look forward to hearing details when appropriate

I would have bought one of these or similar but for the fact that my bike (ti456) has a 27.2 post and don't fancy a GD. Might have been a good thing by the sounds of it.

I've ridden a lot of the Scottish trail centres in the last week and quick an easy seatpost adjustment would have been nice but not essential at most. Laggan and Glospie was lots of up then lots of down and getting off to adjust just the once per lap was no biggie. The only one I would have really liked it was going round the Ae XC run on Friday morning on the way home - that place does not seem to flow like I remember with lots of little descents and climbs one after another. A pain in the arse to keep adjusting but evidently a Joplin might be even more painful in that department!

why does crank bros. make stuff that looks fancy but is shite in actual use?. the pedals fall apart when the circlips pop off, the multitools are cack, and the seatposts (apparently) fall apart.

nicely presented kit though.

Reminds me of a awesomely funny time in Verbier. I was sat at the top of a lift station talking to a guy, and someone rode past with said seatpost and the guy commented on how cr@p the seatpost was and how the saddle falls off all the time, at which point the bloke sat down and bang, the saddle flew off backwards!
