Help! The Tour starts tomorrow and I cannot recieve itv 4 via freeview box I even bought a new box Aerial man says aerial is fine I live in Bristol and could get itv4 fine before digital switchover earlier this year. Anyone experience similar problems or have any ideas what to do!
Fine here in st andrews (mendips transmitter, i think). I presume you have re-scanned your box.
Yes I have reset the box performed scans etc many times It dosen't even come up with any mention of itv whatsoever ITV4 is supposed to be on CH 24 which comes up 'Invalid Entry'
In the north west peaks, we get less channels than everyone else. could that be the case for you?
Fine here in Redland - can you contact Freeview for info on solving your problem. Is it just ITV4 or other channels as well?
Which transmitter are you using?
The muxes on Bristol King's Weston are 22, 25, 28, 32, 34
Philby I live in Cotham so v. close to you I think there are other channels I cant get SkySports news sky 3 Dave and maybe some others Do I need a 'Stronger' freeview box? The guy in the shop reckoned this one was best.
ITV4 is on the same mux as Film4 & 4Music - are you getting those?
no i dont get those either Excuse my ignorance but what is mux
A multiplex of channels - a load of broadcasts on the same frequency
Do you know which transmitter your aerial is pointed at?
I think it is Montpellier
I've never heard of that transmitter - are you sure?
anyway the channel numbers above were incorrect - they changed in April
they should be
C30 C43 C46 C50 C53 C57 C60
ITV4 will be on 60 from that transmitter
Mendip will be
C54 C55 C56 C58 C59 C61 C62
ITV4 is on 59
I just dont understand These channels preceded by C mean nothing to me
c = channel
C59 simply means Channel 59
How many other channels are you getting? My old digi box only got a hand-full after the switchover and has now gone in the bin. It was very old, though.
none of these channels in the fiftys exist with my set up all 'invalid entry'
OK - what channels do you have a signal with?
i have the following - bbc 1,bbc 2,itv 1,channel 4,channel 5,itv 2,bbc 3,bbc 4,itv 3,ch 4+1,more 4,QVC,virgin 1,E4,fiver,fiveUSA,itv2+1,quest,CBBC,CBeebies,Citv,BBC news,BBC Parliament,CNN, Thats all
What I meant was the actual channel numbers, which ones give you a signal
I'm trying to identify which transmitter you're on
Hang on a minute
I think you're confusing channel numbers with programme numbers
Channel number refer to a frequency & go from 21 to 68
Programme numbers start at 1 & go to whatever
Oh right 0001,0002,00030004,0005,0006,0007,0008,0009,0010,00130014,0016,0020,0023,0028,0030,0031,0033,0038,0070,0071,0072,0080,0081,0301,0800,0801,0802,0803,0804,0805,0806, Thats all
nope, that's not it
go into the setup and look for them
they can't be lower than 21 or higher than 68
I need to go now so read the manual & set a channel to 59 & see how you get on
Cheers for your time and help Uplink, Much time spent trying but this year I wont be watching the tour on ITV4 due to the area I live and its reception. Looks like i'll be going over BT's monthly allowance of 10g for internet usage!!!!!!!!
you can always watch online. http://www.itv.com/sport/tourdefrance/
You live in the middle of Bristol so i am sure reception cannot be an issue - I live in westbury-on-trym, and have no problems.
What box have you got??
