Brewer's droop.
Wonderful!
Your saddle's melting.
Edit: Too slow!
Is that saddle designed to accommodate old man's balls?
Nice bike though. Post some in use pictures.
What did Will do?
That's a round the world saddle right there.
Are you going round the world Ton?
Nice colour BTW
Massively jealous. How does it ride? And can I have first dibs if you sell it ๐
too clean, go away and get it dirty.
Shopping basket still in the post?
Wish I had one, lovely bike (without the awful saddle of course).
I know this has probably already been covered, but what advantage do the truss forks confer?
Also, does the standard type frame give the same ride advantages as the space frame?
Truss forks are stiff so they track exceptionally well through rough stuff.
On the traditional Jones frame the spaceframe definitely has a softer feel to it. Over small ripple bumps it's almost as if the jarring is faded out to a degree. It's only marginal though. Standover clearance on the spaceframe is noticeable though when you have the seat dropped and you're playing on some fast singletrack.
A 25" plus spaceframe would make me all giddy I think.
Lovely. I think a Jones is in my future.
dont know anything about the truss forks.....I bought it purely because I like the look of it, and a Jones as always been on my 'bikes to try' list.
there are no pockets in coffins..... ๐
have you been out on it yet?
That's a great looking bike. Really jealous! I'd love to get one some day. One bike to replace them all??!!
You'll have to let us know how you get on with it....
ridden round the carpark, going out for a spin in the woods tonight, and got a 2 day trip planned for this weekend in the Dales.
then we will know if it is ok.
can I have first dibs if you sell it
Get in line...
How large is that rear disc??
I really like that! I know I shouldn't, but I do
Very nice indeed that Ton
Is it poor form to ask where from & how much?
Because I want one!
from nice bloke in Dorset, and just enough so I had change for a pint.
front brake hose is too long ๐
Very nice!
Beaten to it - but I'm going for it anyway!
Headtube is very long, and not that pretty but they all are on Jones', front end must be high, but if gets you riding in comfort, why not.
I like the look of the Jones diamond with a unicrown fork, but it kind of defeats the point of getting a Jones I think.
You know what? I think it looks rubbish. Sure it's lovely but I'd only be happy riding it at night when I couldn't see it.
Then again I can't stand the look of those Evil bikes everyone was drooling over last year.
Enjoy the chronicles whilst it's dry, you'll need something with more tread on the front when we get normal weather back
Looks great (apart from Saddle). Look forward to hearing how it rides (and 3rd dibbs please ๐ )
You know if it rains it's your fault for buying a new bike!!
The side effects of Amiodarone include blurred vision and phototoxicity, you could probably sue someone for buying that thing... ๐
as you all know, a ugly man needs a ugly bike.....perfect match ๐
and just did a nice hour in the woods. 1st impressions are, very very stable and planted feeling. cornering at speed felt very safe.
climbing out of the saddle it felt very solid, didnt feel like any flex at all.
20 psi in the tyres felt good.
fingers crossed it will keep me happy.
Want one of these next, sell the fleet and go for the Jones as the one and only. Looks pretty much spot on build wise, certainly never seen a saddle like that before..what is it ton?
Nice, I like it.
What saddle is it?
saddle is a SMP TRK
obviously it is gopping, but it is the comfiest saddle i have ever used.......and that is a hell of a lot. got one on my tourer also.
I can't stand the look of those Evil bikes everyone was drooling over last year.
Try looking again, they're all a different shape now, compared to how they came out the factory ๐
You can't see it when you are sat on it though.
Comfy is very good.
That's awesome but did anyone mention the saddle?
Most bikes for big people look terrible with the saddle so tall compared to the wheelbase and the frame so big compared to the wheels - Jones Plus solves both with form following function.
honourablegeorge - MemberNot bad at all, that. Lose the rim decals and sort out the saddle and it will look as good as this one
TBH apart from the broken nose saddle design it looks fine & I cant stand the shoved forward saddle on yours ๐

Again I don't agree as I think small frames look silly with 26" and above wheels on?
I might be biased as Ton & I are age & body doubles ๐
What size frame did you go for ton? Cheers.
Looks great Tony it's the most in proportion looking bike I've ever seen of yours ๐ as for the saddle I've an smp too comfiest saddles ever and you can't see it when your sat on it

Other one isn't mine, sadly. From a review....just the pic stuck in my hdad since as I thought it looked ace.

Chronicles are fine in the wet. They're ace compared to knards.
I do like these....
The world is an odd place when NSMB is reviewing them for the North Shore.
๐
Chronicles are fine in the wet.
I dunno what "wet" you get by you but here in the saturated loam & clay they are useless
Really nice bike fella.....I love the look too. As much as I enjoyed that review up the page a bit, it does annoy me how every bike journo seems to think that every bike needs to be tested on gnarly, jumpy stuff.....perhaps, just maybe, there are people who love to ride bikes and not think about 'doubling' jumps?
I only do XC, and if I hit a jump or 'berm', it will be an accident.......literally, probably! Oh, and just because it has zero inch suspension, does not mean you are going to die if you hit a root......your magnificent machine may go some way to rediscovering old, neglected skills......like riding a bike across things, without constantly analysing it!
Love it!

In fairness to that particular review, NSMB is not the site you would visit if you're trying to avoid the gnarly, jumpy stuff. This may be more your cup of tea..

Perhaps I should have started a new thread, but my point still stands.....I enjoyed the review, it was well written and thoughtful, that's not what bugs me. It's the fact that even if a bike (not just the Jones Plus) is advertised/marketed as an XC rig, most journalists still insist on ragging it around a trail centre and then criticising it's handling skills.....not this review, so it's a non point. I've just woken up grumpy.
read the nsmb review prior to buying. just another journo's thoughts. talked to a bloke who owns one, his input had more to do with me buying.
You have eclectic tastes ton judging by your recent buying history - you must do more different types of riding than most on here to accommodate such a diverse range of bikes.
Enjoy the new one - beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
Which of the two sizes is that Tony?
I would bet a fair bit on it being the 25 inch. The headtube is fairly, errrm, distinctive.
it is the 25'' version.

NSMB isn't really that audience, though. And Jeff Jones reckons the plus bike is for "all types" of mountain biking - certainly the video he released of it was very much more trail/AM riding than bike****ng or XC.
Think it's a testament to the bike that a site who normally review only Enduro & DH bikes chose to review a rigid bike, and liked it.

Nice - I'd really like to try the new geo on the plus.
Mole - do it!! My Spaceframe has been my only bike for nearly 7 years. My only n+1 itch is for another Jones, the plus Spaceframe ๐
just pricing up a 2nd set of wheels with slicks, for touring. I could see it being my only bike in the near future.
I think I must be missing something here. A quick scan through the posts above would put me in a minority in thinking it's hideous?
Possibly a bit too niche for my mainstream tastes, although I did have PRST1 back in the day!
hideous?
****ing hell mate, I know I am no oil painting, but I have feelings you know.............. ๐

Did I say hideous, apologies I meant to say, erm...ocularly distressing.
Looks great. Never thought I'd say that about a Jones. But for technical riding (I've seen and read that you can....) those bars are not for me, for pootling and touring they look great (esp with a Revelate Jones centre bag)
Damn thought I was done with new bikes for a while. Really like that ๐
Nicest enormoose bike I've seen in a while..
Ton - you might want to try rotating the Loop bars down a bit more - the angle can have a big difference on comfort and cornering.
It's not hideous, it's grotesque!
It's not hideous, it's grotesque!
just wait until you see photos of a fat old bloke taming those lakes hills on it.......yes, then you will change your mind...... ๐
Very nice Ton.
Presuming that Velocity Dually rims were an option you were wise to go for Hugo rims; the Duallys are difficult to set up tubeless (with Dirt Wizards) but Stans are usually a doddle.
Surly Dirt Wizard tyres are pretty good in normal (non-dry) UK conditions.
Enjoy!
I've got those saddles on all my bikes as well...didn't realise they look so odd ๐ But yeah, super comfy ๐

genuinely interested in seeing how people run the Jones bars..
As a new convert, any advice on set up would be appreciated.
Or is it just the old check and test, check and test method.. taking an alan key on yer ride and trying as you go?
been told by various people over the time I have used jones bars, to tilt em down. I have tried, I don't like em tilted. my wrists don't do tilted.
this is the best position for me.
