I recently bought an Avid BB7 road disc brake which was on the vendors website described as Post Mount. It came in a box saying that it was IS mount and when I opened the box there was a PM brake caliper with 2 different IS adapters and a SRAM 160 mm disc rotor. The thing is that without a PM/PM adapter the brake won't fit the supplied rotor. The cost of an Avid adapter is £25, making an expensive brake caliper a very expensive brake caliper. I messaged the vendor saying that I wasn't happy with the description and the fact that I had to spend an unexpected £25 to make it work and anyway, when did disc road bikes ever have IS mounts to which I was told plenty of older road bikes use them which I would dispute. Do you think that I'm being petty?

Yes but you also need the long bolts to actually fit it. My LBS only had the official SRAM part for a pricey £25, although I haggled them down a bit.

It's pretty normal to need to buy an extra adapter to make the caliper fit a particular disk size. It's not normal to pay £25 for it.

Every Avid disc brake I bought came with a selection of PM-PM adapters (including the right size bolts) so that you could set the caliper correctly for the included disk. Mind you offhand those I bought were all 203 disks so may have included more adapters...

Avid adaptor kit

Front and rear, so a tenner a wheel. Cheaper than sourcing individual washers and bolts from eBay.
