Debating trying a coil shock. Currently have a monarch plus RC3 which is excellent. Since getting a hardtail for xcish and hack about duties, the 6" is being reserved for the gravity side of things so weight and pedalability have dropped down the priority list.
With the coil shock, i am hoping to gain better medium to big hit performance. By this i don't mean a wollowy mess that gives really easily under these kind of hits, i'm waiting better progressiveness in support in the last 2/3rds of travel.
Had a play in linkage, modified a spicy to my frame which is a da bomb cherry bomb 6. Obviously due to bottom out bumper on coil, there will be more ramp up at end of stroke on the coil plot. Also the spring curve of the monarch plus is supposedly more linear at the beginning than what is shown in the picture.
On the shock side of things, is the kage just a vivid without the dual flow adjust?
Is the end of stroke rebound adjustment on the vivid just spring preload on the main piston rebound stack?
Could i achieve the same if not better with doing some reshimming of the rebound stack in the kage if required?
Go for a van rc instead and lose the capability of home tuning?
I want to get into a bit of home tuning.
