[#6493494]

a friend stared off this amongst us when he named his Lapierre Spicy Nikita...another then followed when he named his Trek Remedy Shakira...then another named his Lapierre Spicy Team the Beast

now they're all at it....even i've done it now ...named it Suzy Wong

does anyone else suffer from this or is it just me and my mates?

do i need to get a grip or is it ok?

Mine are all called 'You bastard' as a result of the number of times they make me fall off.

I have named all my bikes, there was Beatrix the boardman, Surly Suzie, Rosie (fat bike, because there's a whole lot of her), fanny the forme, Rachel the raleigh. Infact the only one I haven't named is the one I've built myself.

This, although less light on expletives.

My commuter is called Colin, yes it's a bit sad naming inanimate objects but it doesn't hurt anyone.

I've nothing against naming bikes, but none of mine have names, they've just not really done anything to aquire one. The naming of bikes is a difficult matter, it isn't just one of your holiday games...

Nothing wrong with it.

So says Ianto the roadrat, Dewi the Trek Fuel EX 9, Mehefin the on-one inbred and Iorwerth the Genesis Equilibrium.

It's a bit strange. The names I give my bikes are the ones they came with; apart from the chinese carbon which I just refer to as the black and red bike.

Yep. The 456 was Sarah, Ruth the Ritchey, Olivia the On-One, and Beatrice the Boardman.

About as wrong as naming any inanimate object, giving it a girls name is worse.

i didn't, until i met my wife.

me: i'm buying some tyres.
wife: ok, for which bike? (just out of curiosity)
me: my Horsethief.
wife: which one's that?
me: the big, grey, full-suspension bike, with the white forks...?
wife: oh, you mean Leroy.

?

me: i'm buying some tyres
wife: ok, for which bike?
me: my cdf.
wife: which one's that?
me: the blue bike...?
wife: oh, you mean Ron.

etc.

so now my Horsethief is called Leroy, and my commuter is called Ron.

Mine are all called 'You bastard' as a result of the number of times they make me fall off.

@Yunki Mine are the black one, the white one and the hardtail. But after seeing your post I might have to have a Christening ceremony.

All have been named, and still continue to do so.

Polly the Pace RC129
Nina the Niner RLT
Karen the Kona Paddy Wagon
Angelina the Giant Anthem
Charlotte and Candice the two Cannondales
Penelope the Prolite.

When I close the garage door it's always a good night girls.

Mine is a Maverick so it has a name given to it by the factory at birth.

Naming a bike is utterly stupid, nearly as bad as calling a bike or car 'she'.

My 8 year old daughter asked me out of the blue the other day why people called cars 'she', she thinks it's as naff as I do.

I'm with Euro - you lot are totally bonkers, mate!

I have a Turner and a Cube. I call them the Turner and the road bike. Lack of consistency, see? Krazy.

I've heard of people naming bikes and cars, but its not something I do.

Its just a bike.

They get referred to by make or colour.

I've had a change of heart and will be calling my full suspension bicycle Oscar from now on. It's a Stumpy. Not any old stumpy though, an Evo one.

Once they get to the naming stage they usually stay for at least a month or two ๐Ÿ˜‰ . Currently residing in the kitchen are Hope, Stanley, Denver and (bike No 140) Ford ๐Ÿ˜› . Reckon I'd best stop soon - all the decent names have been used (RIP Gibson, Marshall Newt, Fforest, Clementine, Java, Vincent, Lieu, Beaufort, Corbyn, et al ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Mines called T'Orange.

Not because of any reason, it's just us northerners put a T in front of most words.

Nicolai - Nicola ( the i sticker had come off)
Yeti Big Top - The Bearded Lady

and all my mates seem to do the same, Gina, Tracey and Betty - an Alpine 160, Tracer and SB66 respectively

My wife and her family name their cars so when we got together somehow my bikes and cars ended up with names.

In my house there lives Dylan (road), Jack (Mtb) and Dennis (CX) and we drive around in Seth (octavia) and Sir Edmund (Yeti)

It's kind of become normal now ๐Ÿ™‚
