iv just built a road bike Tarmac with ultegra di2,fulcrum quatro wheels.
im very impressed with how much of my power seems to go forward, and it handles better than previous carbon road bikes iv had.
it is a carbon fact r10 frame.
its just a bit too racy for me and im looking at the Roubaix, however an r10 frame seem very hard to come by but r8 are every where.
is it my wheels or the r10 frame that make the tarmac so responsive and powerfull.
will i notice going from an r10 to r8 with the same equipment.
the tarmac is 2012 and it looks like the roubaix would be arrond 2016.
am i just caught up in my little world and wont notice the diferance.
i go out with a fitish groupe averaging 18 - 20mph over 40 mile rides.
i just want a little more comfort.
real world experiance gratfully listend to.
i just want a little more comfort.
What tyre width are you using? I'd try going up to 28mm if you can before thinking about new frames/wheels/bikes.
im on 25mm thats the biggest that will fit in the tarmac
Roubaix is shorter, more upright, longer wheelbase & slacker head angle than the Tarmac - these will make far more difference to the ride than the difference between the Fact 8r and Fact 10r carbon.
Cheap, deep section alloy wheels generally won't help with ride quality although tyres make more difference.
Yeah Roubaix will be comfier and more stable but also less responsive. Wouldn't be my first choice if I wanted something comfier but still fun.
I switched from a roubaix to a Tarmac a couple of years ago - didn’t notice much of a difference in comfort but massive difference in fun factor. How about dropping tyre pressures by 5psi or 10 if your wheels are tubeless compatible and you switch to tubeless, or a forgiving carbon seatpost.
Some food for thought.
One of my reasons is pins and needles in one hand. Started with the tarmac.
Have you tried something as simple as double wrapping your bar tape? Possibly a shorter stem if you want to be more upright, these could help and easier than a whole new bike when it sounds like you already have a great bike...
Before buying any new parts how much have you tried adjusting? I'd start with dropping the saddle 3-5mm. That'll put less weight through your hands and should lessen, if not remove, the pins & needles.
If you can get someone to take a photo of you sat on the bike in a riding position it may help highlight anything that's noticeably wrong.

I feel I’m drip feeding. Sorry
Lizzzard skin 3.2 bar tape
New gloves with extra padding
Short stem with a higher rise
Did the GCN saddle position video
And before my ride tonight I twisted the bars slightly so the levers came towards me a little more.
Tyres at about 90psi
Pins and needles in 1 hand.
Depending on the angle your wrists are at on the hoods it may be worth rotating the bars 'down' a little so you don't pinch the nerves, as well as dropping the saddle to counteract the extra weight this will place on your hands/wrists. I've not seen the GCN video but, being a general/ballpark setup guide it may not suit you.
Do your hoods point straight ahead or are they angled? I have to angle mine inwards to feel comfortable.
Perhaps you could not look at the bike and look at yourself...
Asymmetry of symptoms, assuming your bike is all straight (bars, shifters, seat post), means it might be you.
Try seeing a good physio with an interest in cycling.
Maybe you sit at a desk all day using a mouse & keyboard. Might mean one shoulder is more trained to reach/round and this puts too much pressure on that or the other hand.... Maybe...
Without a trained eye you might not be able to diagnose it yourself... So invest in physio not bike mods!
