Im building the ultimate skanky machine imaginable using any old junk I have lying around.
Its going to be an MTB 69er, got a set of old 29er rigid forks that I want to use on it but no wheel at the minute
So can I use a racing wheel, I will be putting V brakes on it.

Yes though road rims will typically be narrower and you won't want to fit tyres that are too wide to it.

I run road rims on my 29er with V brakes. With 2.25" tyre, there's some rub on the brake arm when the pad is even slightly worn. As it's fixed and I don't use the brake much, I'm just living with it but wouldn't want it on a 'proper' bike.
