I'm aware that people will naturally respond that I should call first/ double check with the shop etc but I am finding the whole 'in stock' not actually meaning 'in stock' thing a little irritating.

I'm not going to mention bike shop names because it's largely irrelevant. I ordered a new frame from a store that clearly displayed it as being 'in stock'. So I ordered it. At 5pm the following day I received a call telling me they don't actually have that frame in stock and it was a technical problem with the website. So I cancelled the order but had to wait for the money to show in my account before I could re-order from elsewhere. Two days later once funds were clear I ordered from elsewhere.

This website also listed the frame as having 1 in stock. But to be safe I emailed them to double check. A quick reply told me that they don't actually have it in stock at all but their distributor does and they could have it with me in 3 -4 working days. Not brilliant but fine.

So I ordered the frame and requested delivery to my work address. 2 days after placing the order I get a call advising they can't deliver the frame to any other address then the billing address! A minor annoyance but ok. I asked when I could expect delivery. I was told that as the order hadn't even been processed yet I would now have to wait until after the bank holiday weekend.

So because of the pointless 'live stock' systems and the seeming inability of bike shops to keep on top of their orders, a frame which I originally ordered last Tuesday will now not be with me until next Wednesday at the earliest.

I realise it's not practical for stores to stock multiples of every item they sell but then say so on your bloody website. I just needed to rant and let of some steam.

That's all well and good if the shops have the product. By all accounts none of these shops ever have any products, which is the problem.

Go to distributers.
See product
Beg to buy product direct from distributer.
Leave without product
