Hi Chaps,

I'm on VM at the moment, which was great until about a week ago when it appears they are throttling my network, I'm getting dropped packets or corrupt downloads all over the place and about 3Mb connection speeds.

Who would you chaps recommend that dont throttle the network, and possibly don't have an India call centre who keep telling me to restart my router?

Cheers

Ricks

I have a similar story. Where do you live?

I've not paid for mine for 3 months now. They keep giving me dates and nothing happens. I often drop below 1meg and still they have sales stalls out touting for more business

If a reliable, fast connection is what you need then Zen is definitely the way to go... As Jambo said, they aren't cheap, but you do get a fantastic service. Their call centre staff are the most helpful and approachable people you could possibly imagine (in a call centre!).

Are you on Virgin Media cable or are you using a BT line?

I've had drop outs and slow speeds a couple of times. Both turned out to be intermittent faults with an "amplifier" in a cabinet up the road.

Virgin sorted it out both times, the Indian call centre was incredibly efficient, and they even refunded a months money.

For me, Virgin just used to throttle between 6pm and 9pm Monday to Friday. Outside that was fine. Call them and talk to them about it.

They've been throttling the network for the last few years.

It's unlikely the dropped packets/corrupt downloads would be caused by throttling.

1 hour on the phone to VM support chap. I lost count of how many times I face Palmed.

I'm being sent a new modem. At least that'll stop me phoning them for a week or so, while I wait for it to arrive.
