They appear to be cheaper, but there is nothing to say that they cover for dh mountain biking.

I normally give them a call to make sure it's covered.

Have you used them before for biking holidays?

Always Snowcard. Reasonable cost and on the occasion I did need to use them, excellent service.

I wouldn't just go on cost for something like this. Cheap and cheerful may turn out to be anything but...

That is why I asked whether Snowcard are still the benchmark. I don't mind paying the £130 they've quoted, if they still are the best.

Only thing I could find which would cover me for racing 24hr worlds in Oz was Dogtag. Mention racing to anyone else and they didn't want to know. Didn't know about scowcard to be fair.

We all used snowcard last year during a trip to the alps as they were the cheapest and offered the most comprehensive cover. My brother ripped his knee badly and had no problems whatsoever in claiming back the costs.

Cheers
Kev

I believe Snowcard actually mention mtb racing as one of the activities they cover.

useful reference here

Insurance

who ever you go with, ensure that they don't impose any restrictions on cover - e.g
Mountain Biking on PAVED trails only
Mountain biking below 1000m,
Mountain biking not on hazardous terrain

yes, those are REAL restrictions!

£130? How long you off for? Unless it's a season, I'm sure there are cheaper deals for equally good cover, but you'll need to check all the small print. Sorry I can't recommend a specific company.

2nd'd - Endsleigh insured my now wife and covered her reconstructive knee surgery as a result of getting run over by 2 dogs.

$25K surgery
First class BA flight home,
fuel to get me to the hospital to vist, my parking, her knee braces and physio, TV in her room in hospital - everything!

Didn't argue about a penny which was extremely refreshing!

(Although I guess I'm not officially recommending any insurance company and you should excercise due dilligence to ensure that whatever policy you choose covers yoru needs)

£130 does seem a bit expensive, the Dogtag policy was sixty-something for three weeks.
Only insured me though, looked at getting the bike covered and cheapest I could find for that was £750! It's a nice bike but I took the risk and didn't have it covered, got away with it.

Out walking 2 dogs. they were running together, body checking each other 'sharing' a stick.. not looking where they were going and BOOM, they ran straight hrough my wife.
Sent her arse over tea kettle (360 vertically). Not sure if it was the force of the dogs that broke her knee or the landing.
Either way, 10mm displaced depressed fracture of the tibial plateau. 2 weeks before surgery so muscular dystrophy was significant and she was on 2crutches 3 months post op then a month on 1 crutch.
Doc initially missed the fracture so was treating as ligament damage until someone else reviewed the xray and flagged the damage!

Freak accident just as she was starting to rip on her bike!
