Of bmx fame, and helped him fix a broken chain. Did not even realise until after he left and the name sunk in, even though he was on about working at ridebmx, dirt etc. He was riding his bike he made for bespoked. Looked cool.
Funny small old world. Feel excited in a small boy meets cool person way!
Excellent! Nice to meet a bit of a hero!
I know. Motivates me to go ride, but I just found my cranks thread is knackered!
That's not so good!
I met him & Andy Ruffel at the Euro's at Birmiingham Wheels in about 1983/84.
As a yoof I was in awe.
Andy Ruffel was just ace, spent ages talking to us minions.
I also got to meet Tim and Andy in the 80s at bmx races, as well as the Skyway team who did a trip to the UK and bizarrely a show on a 1/4 pipe in the car park of a local supermarket in my nearest town Buckingham. My mate Nick and I blown away meeting those guys, they even taught us how to 'kickturn' at the bottom of the 1/4 pipe - first time we'd seen/ridden one!
