I spent a few hours out biking with junior (6) this morning, covering about 10 miles. I took him down some canal towpaths to show him the canal boats, which of course was even more awesome when we got to see one going through a lock, and I explain they go all the way into central London (I'm in North London).

So then he says out of the blue, "Daddy, how about when is summer time and its my holidays you can take a day off work and we can can ride together all the way into London along the canal, have some lunch and come back in the afternoon, just you and me eh?"

Awesome, it got very dusty for a moment (), I never had this kind of relationship with my parents and its moments like this they make life more than worthwhile.

I can't wait for the day!

Despite apparently being a child-hater (hi darcy!) that's really touching and sweet - must have been lovely for you. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice, looking forward to doing that with my kids!

My son (4) has lost a bit of interest in coming out with me but my daughter (3) still loves it

It's a nice ride going North towards Hertford too

(I'm a North Londoner too)

I rode the Old Coach Road with my then-6 year old last Easter. Apparently, it was "the best day of my life, Dad"

More please!

it was "the best day of my life, Dad"

Words that can bring any father to tears ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a family trip to Oz back in October and had a couple of hours out at sea on a little boat. We fished, saw dolphins and even saw sharks. My eldest said it was his best day ever. That memory will stay with me...

Me and my lad have aspirations to cycle to Burgundy after getting the train to Calais with the wife, she then drives it down and we cycle...

Although with him only being 7 at the moment there's a while left yet before we crack on with it.
