Does anyone use a hydration vest, I’ve seen Camelbak make a specific bike pack at 1.5 and 2 litre. I feel I’m carrying too much kit for the riding I do, I also like the idea of having sweets near me rather than removing the pack. Most of all I want to feel a bit lighter on the bike. Currently I have a nice Dakine pack with 3 litre bladder. I tend to over estimate how much I need.

How does the vest feel is it just like a pack (originally I thought the water was in the shoulder straps as well as back) I also see Camelbak make a low slung pack. I don’t like the idea of a bum bag.

Thanks

Vests look very special.... Kinda long distance marathon special.

Try a bum bag. They're good.

I have a race face stash vest. Bought with the intention of not riding with a pack. Worn twice in 4 years......

I have a couple which I mainly use for mountain running / fast days in the hills - means I can have quick access to my phone / GPS / food without the need for stopping. I find bum bags a literal PIA as they jiggle about constantly. But for on the bike use, I much prefer putting stuff in frame bags or pouches / on the bike

I have the 2 litre one and my son has the 1.5.
There’s enough space for water, tools, pump, a bit of food, phone and waterproof.
Don’t expect to take a pack lunch or four extra fleeces.

They sit high, so if you have jersey pockets then those are still useable.

The various straps lock it on to you nicely.

The final selling point for me is, having lost 3.5st, my old goretex goes over the top of the vest, keeping it dry and mud free.

I really like it.

I also have a cheap Polaris hydro vest for running. That wouldn’t work as well for cycling.

I have the Camelback one and I wasn’t sure initially, but after wearing it I’m happy, it’s a good bit of kit.

Lighter and less sweaty than a pack, much more comfortable than a bumbag - for me.

For sure they look a bit special but do fo mountain bikers full stop. Mixed reports then might have to try one on.

I use a Saloman ADV skin 12 running vest, Not MTB specific but it's super light and obviously you can use it for hiking/running too.
