I need some of your experience.

I have a new carbon fibre Merida FLX3500D and want to protect it in all the important places (underside of down tube, BB area, chainstay and rear triangle, headtube etc)

How much tape will I need?

Also, when you take it off, does it take laquer off?

I don't actually have it yet. It is being built, but just wanted a guide as it's rather expensive stuff. And would like to get it this weekend so I have it for when it arrives.

Ah! In that case I not sure but 3 metres would easily cover it at a guess me I would go for 5 metres and keep the spare. Trying to get a colleague who sells packing tapes and the likes to source so for me.

Don't know about that, but a cheaper option is available here:-

I have used it and have to say I'm very happy with it! Permanent and more importantly "non yellowing".

I have used the b&q equivalent and it's pap. I ended up taking it off as it goes yellow and looses it's stickyness.
