[Closed] How do you know if you need a new AVID juicy seal kit?

I've got an AVID Juicy 7 up front which is 4-5 years old and is starting to stick loads. I've been told a new seal & piston kit will sort this...

But no fluid is leaking? Why would a new seal & piston kit solve the problem?

Feedback appreciated as usual!

Probably gummed up with all the filth that's accumulated over the years, a full stripdown, thorough clean, and re-assembly using silicone grease on the pistons and seals will probably sort it, but if you've gone to those lengths, then it makes sense to renew the seals and pistons too.

You're doing well to get 5 maintenance free years
I've got 5's and I've needed the piston seals done @ 3 yrs and the lever internals and reservoir top cap and seals done earlier this year (2007 sj fsr)

They've needed bled so many times and sticky pistons are the bugbear
Avid parts are a bit pricey and need to be ordered carefully

Going shimano next time
Rubbing disks piss me off big style

Forgot to add, the seals will be on their way to perishing and hydraulic fluid will leak out when the seal gives way
Was dripping out my top caps

Good power when they work but not really the most robust sums them up

I had a piston totally weld it's way in the caliper, if they are sticking then get them apart and sort them and while you are there you might as well renew the seals, no point just doing half a job and having to do it again soon after.
