Just bought a s/h frame with headset fitted and I can't get the top cover to sit flush on the bearing because the taper ring sits about 2.5mm proud. Either the taper ring is the wrong one or the bearing has the incorrect bevel - it seems to be in the correct way up.
Anyone have any idea of the problem based on the pics?

the conical washer looks too big for a hope
As above thats not the correct Conical washer. Hope ones usually have a Parallel section then the taper.
Either that one hasnt been machined correctly or its not for that headset
