I have a old hope bulb front hub that i'm trying to convert to 20mm. I have the kit but i am having terrible trouble getting the hub apart. I read somewhere that you need 2 X 5mm allen key on either end and just unwind, but 5mm allen key wont fit and a 4mm is to small. I've also tried pulling apart as per Pro2 but no joy. I have a Hope Xc which comes apart fine.
fits every one I've seen
maybe the sockets are a bit mucky/rusty
so err, MTFU ?? ๐
(xc doesn't come apart, does it ??)
BUlbs are justs two 5mm allen keys unscrewing antic clockwise.
Simples!
Thats how mine work anyhow!
I'm thinking it may be a XC hub, as the other one i have seems identical. Even though the dust caps should come off to service it anyway. How do a tell the difference between the 2 hubs?
Pretty sure it's a XC. pity, i was going to buy some Pikes.
The bulb hub shell is a larger diameter than the xc so the 20mm type bearings can fit, and as you already know, the axle should have a hex fitting at each end.
