I'm on my annual hunt for inspiration for holiday ideas. I'm after some ideas for 2 or 3 day MTB trips in the Alps, spending a night or two in huts. We prefer to get away from the crowds so prefer going September time. We've gravitated toward Briancon mostly - preferring the climate, the nature of the trails and the lack of Brits and theme pubs. So that area or something similar would be ideal. We tend to prefer to do our own thing rather than a guided trip but wouldn't rule it out if the trip warrants it. Happiest around UK trail centre red sort of grade. Singletrack preferred, but double track/fire roads are not completely ruled out if the scenery compensates.

Have you considered the Dolomites? Stunning mountains. Loads of good quality refuges.

Check out the Sella Ronda, a famous MTB tour where you can use the various lifts and gondolas to get you up and then ride down.

I've walked in that area but never ridden. I thought the Sella Ronda was more of a long day ride, but I'll do a bit more digging. Thanks. For the suggestion.

Sella Ronda can be done in a day but no reason you can't do it twice in opposite directions as you'll then be using all different lifts and riding different trails for the most part.

Just looking at Slovenia book. Any other areas / routes that people can recommend?
