There is news of a potential last minute addition to the start list. We're just confirming it all now.

Anyone care to take a guess?

"I've got a hotel room....."

So are we going out on the lash afterwards then and didn't you fancy staying at our haunted house?

I'm pretty much set on taking my road bike as lots of bits were clogged with riders last year and the fast bits I couldn't keep up on my single speed

23 slicks for the win 😀

Is it the wonderful Nick Craig? (I did tell him about the race back in September).

Last place is mine, MINE I TELL YOU!

It's traditional, like Ed H getting trashed in the pub afterwards, stopping for a chat witth Ton, leering at the girls in the food tent and calling Terrahawk a **** at the top of Buff bluff.

I think you'll find none of you are in with a chance at the smallest number of laps, I've got that honour in the bag.

Hey, Rusty Spanner, don't be betting on it. There's me and a hundred other innocents to the slaughter...

(Wanders off muttering 'it's only a ride round the park' alternating with 'what have I done?')

any safe BnBS

Church Inn, Prestwich.

it's allegedly haunted by some priests who got slaughtered or something, but other than that it's quite nice.

It has really gone OTT this year (after 6 bloody years of hard graft though).

Next year we are going to organise a race on the moon.

I'll be staying well out of Mr Martins way as he laps me repeatedly. He's utterly bonkers!

There will be quite a lot to see actually.

In addition to the 2 races (Youth at 9:00 – PLACES STILL AVAILABLE, Adult at 10:00) we’ve got…
• Brass band
• Samba band
• Free to enter kiddie bike race (bring kid+bike)
• LBS trade stand
• Assorted other dicking about
• And, with it being a park, there are also swings, slides and a brilliant climbing frame made out of trees and ropes.

The course is quite large and much of it is closed to spectators because it goes through some fairly dense woodland, however The Field Of Despair and The Buff® Bluff (cheers for the name Rusty 😉 ), formerly MTFU Hill, can all be viewed from the comfort of a tarmac road. There is even a fence to lean on to prevent you from falling over with laughter. It is a bit like Monkey Island at Chester Zoo without all the disgusting bottom picking.

It is possible to walk down to the more open sections of the course on the Forestry Commission land. If you ask a marshal they will point you in the right direction, but you need to be aware that the race is going on and try and avoid getting run over or bringing down somebody doing mach 1 on a cross bike.

If you are coming to spectate please don’t use the competitor’s car park because you won’t be able to get out until the race is over.

There is a car park by the swings but we would ask competitors not to use it as the park is still open for normal parky business.

We've also got a special guest rider. He came free with the prizes from Hope. A bit like getting a plastic frog in your Rice Crispies when you were a kid, but hairier.

Junkyard - Guy Martin is a legendary Isle of Man TT racer, and utter loon of the highest order

Here he is in a 170mph ball of flame, after a massive off at the Senior TT

[img] [/img]

Closer to the Edge is well worth a watch. Its insane

I'll lend it you if you want. Got it on Blu-ray. Youdon't have to be into motorbikes to enjoy it.

Oh... and he's pretty handy on a mountain bike too

As I've mentioned Hope and Buff® I feel I should give everyone else who has contributed in some way or other a plug. Without them it wouldn't happen.*

[IMG] [/IMG]

*it would, but we'd have no prizes, vehicles to move stuff about in or a podium to stand on.

last year I forgot to sort out a podium.
nobody complained about having to balance on 2 pallets and the spare wheel out of the van though.

It has always been on a Saturday. It means we can go to the pub and get muntered afterwards.
