Ive recently bought a second hand bike which came with an xt crankset (m760). The crank arms had a wobble so I removed the bottom bracket which was badly worn, on inspection of the crank's axle there is a groove worn in at the non drive side end (roughly near where the bottom bracket cups would be). Is it worth me getting a new bottom bracket for them or once the axles get worn around that area are they completeley shot?

I remember buying a second hand one with the same problem. I built the groove back up again with araldite but I never really got it perfect.

Gave my brother my old bike with that crank, he worked the plastic end cap loose then sheared the teeth off the crank axle.....he's a pretty big unit mind. Can't dismiss the fact it was prob a maintenance issue too...........?
