[#896869]

For the life of me I can't get my head around the DT Swiss spoke calculator. Would anyone be able to confirm the spoke lengths required for a Hope XC Rear Disc Hub with a Mavic XC717 (32 hole) Disc Rim?

Speshpaul, I thought a rear wheel had different length spokes on either side?

use this one then..
http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/
click hubs then select rear XC
click rims and select "Rim dia" and enter 559 (thats the diameter of a 717)
select the boxes for "Rim / Hub holes" set both to 32
click calculate

Disc side (Left) Cassette side (Right)
3x 3x
270.4 270.7

I've just done the wheelpro one and its 262 for each side as well.
I'm pretty sure that a 717 disc is 542 not 559.
But i'll have to check now.
262 x 262 seems very familar, like lots of wheels.

Speshpaul not doubting you, i'm doubting me, i did get the size from "google" not Mavic direct.

Just looked on mavic and 559 is the external diameter of the inside of the rim-where the rim tape sits.
542mm is the diameter of the spoke holes.

thinking about it 559mm is the tyre size any (proper) MTB wheel googled with give you a diameter of 559mm.

So as my 1st post 262 for each side.

Cheers
paul

In a word yes!
Wheel building is witch craft, building a wheel is like joining a sect!

Don't worry about the above, you need 32 262mm spokes to lace a 717 disc to a Hope Xc rear, with a 3 cross pattern.

If you get stuck give me a shout, email in profile.

Cheers
paul
