Hi,
I’ve a hope pro4 xd driver arriving tomorrow. I seem to recall something about a washer on the drive side needed, should I have ordered something extra?

No, the XD driver will come with an end cap too. that's all you'll need to convert from Shimano.

The washer you're thinking of is between the freehub body and the bearing in the hub shell to stop the freehub locking up across the inner and outer races of the hub bearing. The issue is that when its all greased up nicely it has a habit of sticking to the freehub body about 50% of the time (the other 50% its stuck to the hub bearing) - so you disassemble, reassemble, all is good in your hand then you fit to your bike, tighten up the axle and the freehub binds onto the bearing and all gets very stiff and draggy. So no you don't need extra bits, just make sure you don't forget there's a washer that needs to go behind the freehub.
You don't need a choice of end caps, use the one that comes in the packet with the XD driver, it's machined to clear the cassette.
