If you doubt, size down not up. A longer stem will always suffice and put more weight over your front wheel to improve handling.

@davidtaylforth not an option for me.

@TiRed @Ewan think I'll go with the 56. But will give it one last thought before placing my order today.

Just to let you know, went with the 58cm. Ive got a shorter inseam so it should fit me better than you if anything.

Well and the 58cm delivers in 2 days instead of the 6 for the 56cm. If all else fails, like you said, I will just change to a smaller stem or at worse, pay £20 for a return and get the 56cm.

Will update.

Didn't go on one. Being a indecisive person who tends to over analyse, I went back to the shop and tried the 56 again and putting a shorter stem on the 58. I got the 58 comfier (less stretch) by basically adjusting it until it was nigh on identical to the 56 (bit of a drop of the bars with spacers + 90mm stem), so I swapped to a 56.

Who knows if I made the right decision or not. The bloke in the shop and I agreed I could probably ride either and in an ideal world Cube would make a 57!

Note I've got a funny shoulder from rock climbing and subsequent operation and I'm probably overly paranoid about being stretched out.

Haha you sound just like me. Think when my 58cm comes I will pop to a shop with the 56cm to compare. Though as you pointed out, I am longer in the torso so maybe 58cm is better for me.

Ah Ewan sorry for all the questions. Which Rutland Cycling did you visit? I'm now getting paranoid and may take a 1 1/2 hour train up to cambridge to test instead.... just need to call up Thameslink and see what times they allow to bring a bike on.

EDIT: I've cancelled my online order. I see a direct train to Cambridge which is 50 mins which is reasonable.

Oh dear! I feel bad now! I think if I hadn't seen the 56cm / over analysed it in this thread i would have stuck with the 58 - i could easily fit either.

I was going to the store at rutland water - super helpful. Good luck!

For balance I used to ride a cube and I was a 56 and I'm 5ft 10 and fitted me fine without any change of stem etc. Mate of mine rides a 58 and is 6ft 2 so you do seem in between sizes. I've always been told if in between always go smaller so 56 sounds like a good choice

@Ewan no need to feel bad, it's something I should do but wanted to avoid as I'm extremely busy but oh well, will take a few hours tomorrow to get everything sorted. Well hopefully I do, may be in the same position as you and not sure which one to go for.

@winrya Yeah I've gotten so many responses telling me to go with 56cm and 58cm so it's frustrating that I'm in the middle.

Update for anyone who cares. 56cm was too small; even just looking at it I knew it was too small. Me and the friendly chap at Rutland Cycling both said instantly when I got on. 58cm should be delivering tomorrow but tracking says 1st Dec! Excited.

I'm 5ft 10" with a 32" inside leg and considering a 56cm. I ride a 54cm Cannondale and a 54cm Kinesis CX bike.

Burnsy I think you're on the right lines, thanks to having to go up a size to fit a Cube. I'm same dimensions as you and also have a 54 C'dale and would go for a 56 Cube (I seriously considered the Attain as n+1, which is why I may actually have been the first to recommend an Attain from Rutland in this thread 😉 ).

@burnsybhoy

I would also recommend 56cm. 56cm was too small on me so should be perfect for you.
