If I wasn't so lazy, I'd rephrase that title...
I've just been co-opted on to Bontrager 24, and while I have a good light on my commuter bike that I can fit onto my XC bike (a Hope Vision HID stem mount jobbie), I reckon I might need a helmet-mounted light. Thoughts anyone? I'm not made of money, so I'll probably be on the classifieds soon!
on a budget a Deal Extreme 18650 light with a suitable mount will work well but sometimes deliveries can take a while.
If you are in a rush then a Fenix LD20 or TK11 mounted on a lockblock from the photonshop

- will do a great job or, a bit cheaper will be a Solarforce R2 LED L2 from these guys
http://www.kmnw.co.uk/solarforce_led.htm#L2 but you'll need to factor in an 18650 battery and charger
Thanks. That seems very cheap - do we know how many lumens they put out or how long they last for?
It's certainly an alternative to my first thought, which was get another Hope light so that I have a spare battery for my original one in the winter commute...
THe R2 solarforce puts out @220 -300 lumens with an 18650 battery (though I think it's nearer 220!) - the Fenix puts out @180 lumens BUT - its lighter, the batterires are cheaper so you can carry more spares!
I've had a few Fenix (I'm now using a Solarforce with a custom LED) - IMHO for the money he Fenix is excellent - its well made and makes a great lid mounted lamp
Rob at the photonshop is very helpful (as is the Solarforce guy) - give him a buzz and I'm sure he'll sort something out
my mistake - looks like the new Fenix LD20 puts out 205 lumens
I use a Fenix LD20 as my helmet light and it's excellent when mated with about 900lumens on the bars. They provide a very clear spot, and the runtime on mine has exceeded the stated one at about 2hrs.
