I've been planning to replace an old Wahoo chest strap monitor with an armband version for ages, as I hate the chest strap.
My safe bet was the Wahoo one for about £50 but the reviews are saying the strap is bobbins and falls apart. Looked at a few cheaper ones and a lot seem to have proprietary chargers, or need an app on your phone etc.
Any recommendations for a sub £50 arm strap that is either USBC or good old 2032 button cell that just connects on demand please?!
I'm assuming you've been looking at the tickr fit optical from wahoo. I've had one for several years (over 3) now and have not had an issue with the strap. It comes with two as well iirc. Other than charging I don't do anything to it.
Pretty much everything will have a proprietary charger as that's one of the ways they make them waterproof.
I've used a Polar OH1 for years. The current version is Bluetooth/ANT1. USB rechargeable. Works fine.
