So I'm looking at cobbling together a new route to try from hayfield and I know most of the area but I'm unfamiliar with the new allotments/ chinley churn area. I'll be riding up from Chinley and am looking for the best downhill route towards coldwell clough/ hayfield?
Additionally I notice there is a bridleway that goes from highgate road past stubbs farm to join up with the coldwell clough path, is it any good?

Legally, arguably up behind the quarry then either left up the New Allotments climb, which is tricky but doable or keep going all the way along then left and all the way along the top of Chinley Churn. Then take the track left above Hills Farm and then bear right down to Far Phoside, which is steep, rutted, descent and good.
Then down and across to Highgate Road on the bridleway you mention above, draggy climb but an ace, rooty, rocky short descent down to the top of the campsite descent. Then up 20 Trees, across Middle Moor, right on the road - or up the evil concessionary footpath, mind the farmer - along Monk's Road then over Lantern Pike... or instead of going straight up 20 Trees, cut back and up towards Edale Cross, then left and along the bridleway below Kinder Low and down to Kinder Res, then up the cobbled climb to Middle Moor that way.
If that makes sense?
You can add in more loops at will if you know the area.
Ah, from Chinley, well... straight up onto Chinley Churn and along by the obvious route. Or, I suppose, up Beet Lane towards South Head, over that and drop down into Hayfield then up behiond the quarry. Or left and up through Hills Farm then right down through Far Phoside again...
so going left at the fork for hills farm and going on to foxhole clough and far phoside is the best option then? Doing it as a point to point ride using the trains and I have most of the route planned but wasn't sure about Chinley Churn, this should help.
'Best'? Yeah, I'd say it's the most interesting descent from Chinley Churn. Which station are you finishing at? The Hills Farm way down is okay and sets you up for the Coldwell Clough track after cross the road at Peep of Day, but this track is better - that's what you meant, yeah? I don't really know the names, just the trails ๐
