[#6948258]

wife and I both have FS bikes, want a hardtail for kids bike trips/ hardpack singletrack of course too.
have an old orange P7 which needs everything replacing and is racey geometry so not super comfortable for low key kids trips and not what we are used to for descending these days either so looking to replace, maybe 29 /650b but as it's an extra bike not loads of funds so was assuming 26" would be cheaper , more second hand around etc
neither of us weigh much so doesn't need to be v tough either
go on!! - persuade me re your fave ride!
cheers as always
paul

Love my mk1 Ragley Piglet. So much so that despite having the funds I've decided to keep it as my only mountain bike. Reckon it cost under £600 as it is now. However, the first one I had cracked at the seatstay/seat tube weld. Later batches don't do this supposedly.

Was out yesterday with a pal who picked up an early one (complete bike) for £450, Deore kit, hope and dt wheels, etc

Just felt great, nice n relaxed.

The Dartmoor Hornet's also a good shout. The build quality's good, but the frame only costs £185! I've got one and I think it's seriously good. Handles great, doesn't weigh much with a fairly strong build and apart from not having the thickest paint it's tough as nails. It also rides really well with 26 inch wheels and fork, so you can save a bit of money that way, although it does also fit 650b. You do get the odd pedal strike with the 26" wheels, but usually only if you're pedalling mid corner going all out. I can't really think of anything to fault it, it even looks pretty good.

Love our Chameleon. Had it since 2007 and still going strong. Gets used as much as any of our bikes.

That commencal looks an absolute steal, even if you buy into the 26 is dead thing.

I love my 45650b. A bit on the portly side but it's fast when you point it down! I did just by the frame though and spec it myself so not sure what build planet x are offering.

I think it works out at around £620 or so.

Frankly, for £620, you'd be crazy not to.

The Commencal is gopping though - can you take the stickers off?
